New Delhi: ‘I Want To Talk’, directed by Shoojit Sircar and starring Abhishek Bachchan, was released on November 22, 2024, and both reviewers and audience were pleased with the film's performance. The flick received mostly positive reviews, but its opening day box office numbers were poor. For Abhishek Bachchan and Shoojit Sircar, this is the lowest point of their careers so far.

‘I Want to Talk’ had a slow opening day in India, earning just Rs 25 lakh nett and having an overall occupancy rate of only 7.44%, according to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk.

‘I Want to Talk’ had 205 shows in the Delhi-NCR area, more than any other city, while Mumbai had 139 shows.

Meanwhile, industry sources are optimistic that the film's excellent word of mouth might result in improved box office results in the following days, despite the modest start.

The film had the second-worst opening of Bachchan's career and the worst opening in the previous two decades. His last worst opening day was ‘Naach’ (2004), which made just Rs 42 lakh rupees.

His last appearance was with Saiyami Kher in R Balki’s sports drama ‘Ghoomer’. According to Sacnilk, ‘Ghoomer’ only made Rs 7.15 crore worldwide and an opening day total of Rs 85 lakh.

Abhishek Bachchan’s highest-ever opener was 'Dhoom 3', earning Rs 271.07 crore worldwide, followed by 'Happy New Year' with Rs 199.95 crore.

‘I Want to Talk’ Review

According to ABPLive review of the movie: "Abhishek Bachchan delivers a career-defining performance as Arjun Sen. His portrayal is raw, nuanced, and utterly compelling, proving himself to be a worthy successor of Amitabh Bachchan. It’s a film that grips your soul, leaving you shaken, introspective, and deeply moved. This isn’t a movie you simply watch—it’s one you feel profoundly."
