His tweet was particularly aimed at use of loudspeakers. "And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam.. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?" he wrote on micro-blogging site. But this became a good debate topic for some politicians on the name of religion.
Now today, after facing a lot of flak over his tweet, Sonu has said that he still stands by what he said. Writing on Twitter he said, “Dear everyone. Your stand exposes your own IQ. I stand by my statement that loudspeakers should not be allowed in Mosques & Temples. Period.”

In reply to this, Sonu Nigam wrote, “Dear @wajidkhan7. If for once u stop being a Muslim & simply be a Citizen of India, u will see what everyone is truly talking about. Love”
