Filmmaker Priyadarshan, who is best known for making comedy films like 'Hulchul', 'Hungama', Hera Pheri' among others, is away from Bollywood and was busy directing south films. Priyadarshan's last Bollywood film 'Tezz', featuring Ajay Devgn, Kangana Ranaut & others, released in 2013 and he's now all set to make his comeback in Hindi cinema with a sequel of one of his hit comedy films. After a gap of six years, Priyadarshan is returning to Bollywood with 'Hungama 2' featuring Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Paresh Rawal, Meezaan Jaffery and south actress Pranitha Subhash in lead roles.


'Hungama 2' is the second instalment of Priyadarshan's 2003 film 'Hungama' which featured Akshay Khanna, Rimi Sen, Aftab Shivdasani and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. The filmmaker with producer Ratan Jain (Venus) is super excited revive this cult comedy with double the laughter, double the fun and double the entertainment.

Apart from Paresh Rawal, no actor from 'Hungama' has been retained for the second part as 'Hungama 2' will have a fresh story line.

'Hungama 2' lead actress Shilpa Shetty took to her social media account today (24th December) and shared the film's first poster with fans. She tweeted, "Happy to be a part of the reboot of everyone’s favourite comedy entertainer #Hungama2! Grateful to be working again with Ratanji who introduced me to this industry and @priyadarshandir Sir for the first time. @rtnjn @meezaanj @pranitasubhash @venusmovies @hungama2film"

Priyadarshan, who has also directed 'Garam Masala' and 'De Dhana Dhan', said in a statement, "It’s been 17 years since Hungama released and it is still remembered by the audiences. I am happy to collaborate with producer Ratan Jain yet again after Hulchul and Garam Masala and excited to bring back this laugh riot to the big screen with double laughter and entertainment."

Talking about the film, Producer Ratan Jain said, "Hungama has been one of the most iconic comedy entertainer of its times and reminisced across age groups, we are super excited to revive this franchise brand back to the big screen. This Independence Day, get ready to go on a laughter ride with Hungama 2."

The film is slated to release on Independence Day (14th August) weekend next year.
