New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ is one of the most awaited films of the year. The epic drama film, which went on floors in May 2017, will see Ranaut in the titular role of queen Laxmibai. The Krish directorial is rumoured to release in August this year, but as per the latest buzz, the film might get pushed to a later date. Speculations are rife that the film might hit the silver screens on Republic Day 2019, thus clashing with Hrithik Roshan’s 'Super 30'.
Manikarnika’s shooting is complete and now the makers are busy with the post production work. The team doesn’t want to compromise with the VFX just to meet the release date and hence the August-September release date looks dicey, a report in an entertainment portal suggested.

"Manikarnika shoot is completely over barring three days of shoot that couldn't be done because Manish Wadhwa was injured. So his portions are left. Apart from that the film's VFX work is going on. The film of such a large scale relies heavily upon VFX. And the makers of the movie don't want to compromise on it. So definitely, the september release date of it can't be met. The new release date is being figured out," source told PinkVilla.

Interestingly, the report also said that several big ticket films are lined-up for release in the second half of 2018, there is no window available for Manikarnika’s release. Therefore, there are chances the film might release next year.

"Since the second half of the year is clouded with many big ticket films, there is no proper window that is available for the release. Hence the team is contemplating of releasing it on the Republic Day weekend,’’ another source told the portal.
In case, the Kangana Ranaut starrer releases on Republic Day weekend of 2019, then we might see a clash between Manikarnika and Super 30. Super 30, which is helmed by Vikas Bahl, is slated to hit the cinema theatres on January.
Hrithik and Kangana were embroiled in a messy spat last year and their fight grabbed several eyeballs.
