New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor and Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Sanju’ based on the life of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has turned out to be a massive success at the box office. The film has already emerged as the second highest grosser of 2018 after ‘Padmaavat’. Ever since ‘Sanju’ has been released, a certain section of the audience has called the film an attempt to improve the image of the ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3’ actor. Hirani has been accused of whitewashing Sanjay Dutt’s image through the film.

Now, for the very first time, Sanjay Dutt has opened up on the allegations while talking to a television news channel. The ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’ actor questioned why anyone would spend Rs 30-40 crore on improving someone’s image.

“I don’t think anyone would spend Rs 30-40 crore to change his image. That is too much of money. I have told the truth and the truth has been accepted by India, and the box office collection is a proof of that,” the actor said in the interview.

‘’I am happy that people have accepted my life and learnt from it and seen the truth.,’’ the Saajan actor further added.

When asked about what was he thinking when he saw Sanju, the actor said, “It was difficult to relive that again. I remember sitting with Raju (Hirani) & few other people and I was trying to hold back my emotions in the theatre for a very long time. It is difficult to relive your life. After the film ended, I just broke down. I just couldn’t hold my tears and held Raju and Vinod and was crying for 20 minutes.”

On the professional front, Sanjay Dutt will be next seen in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3’. The film which also stars Jimmy Shergill, Mahi Gill, Chitrangada Singh and Soha Ali Khan is slated to release on July 27. The ‘Rocky’ actor has several exciting projects in his kitty, be it ‘Kalank’ or ‘Panipat’.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt's biopic has now set its eyes on entering the coveted Rs 300 crore club.
