RATING: 3 stars

The multi-starrer movie is the sequel of 2016 sleeper hit Happy Bhag Jayegi starring Diana Penty in a lead role, and this time Sonakshi Sinha has stepped into Diana's shoes who plays the supporting role in the film. As the title suggest the movie will definitely make you happy and this time with a double dose as there are two Happys in the film. The film based on comedy of errors is always a fun to watch, and that’s exactly why Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi which will surely tickle your funny bone. The story is based on the same plot that made its predecessor, Happy Bhag Jayegi, only the backdrop this time is China unlike Pakistan in the previous movie.

Story: Horticulture professor Happy (Sonakshi Sinha) arrives in Shanghai only to get kidnapped for her mistaken identity of the other Happy (Diana Penty) who along with husband Guddu (Ali Fazal) also lands up in the Chinese city at the same time. Gangsters who’ve come to kidnap Happy and her husband, pick up the wrong Happy and from there stars a laughter riot which is fully of witty one liners and brilliant performances by the ensemble star cast.

REVIEW: Director Mudassar Aziz has managed to present a perfect cocktail of Punjabi lassi and Chinese noodles as the movie is a perfect blend hilarious Punjabi dialogues in the backdrop of Chinese setting which turns out to be an outright comedy movie. There are some weak points in the film too as, it could have been a tad bit shorter with firm editing, the movie has a lengthy second half but that doesn’t affect much as the performances by the ensemble cast are pitch perfect. The writing and direction by Mudassar Aziz are top notch. The movie leave you in splits with the random humour that you can watch over and over again.

Overall Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is just as good as it's first part. this madcap comedy leaves you with a big smile on face, throughout the movie.

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi cast interview, give SPOILERS: Sonakshi Sinha, Jimmy Sherigill, Jassi Gill, Diana Penty talk about film

ACTING: The biggest reason to watch the movie is its ensemble star-cast, from lead actors to the supporting cast everybody is simply brilliant in the film. This is one of the career best movie of Sonkashi Sinha. The 'Lootera' actress once again proved her acting prowess and aces as new Happy aka Harpreet Kaur. Punjabi superstar Jassi Gill who is opposite Sonakshi made his Bollywood debut with this film and looks innocent on screen. However for me the real star of the movie is Jimmy Sheirgill who plays the character of Daman Singh Bagga his character is being carry forward from the first part of the movie and this time again he is winning hearts with his funny one liners, perfect comic timing and his poker face at times. Looks like he has mastered the role of a jilted lover with such an ease that you want to see him in such roles again and again.

Piyush Mishra as Usmaan Bhai a Pakistani retired cop picks up the humour to a whole new level. Every time when he appears on screen, he literally lits it up! However the actors who surprise the most and definitely deserves an extra appreciation is Denzil Smith and Jason Tham, both of them play the Chinese characters. Denzil plays Adnan Chau and Jason is Chan, the leader of the gangsters. Both actors excel in their roles and is a delight to watch. Imagine a Chinese speaking fluent Hindi while another one impresses with his Urdu dialect that's exactly Denzil and Jason did onscreen which proved to hit the jackpot in the film.

MUSIC: The music is okay types and is not something you are going to remember after leaving the theatre. The songs (barring the remix of the appropriately chosen classic, 'Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu') are ordinary and looks unessential, there are placed in the narrative where the energy falls.
