Arjun Reddy
Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Arjun Reddy’ grabbed a lot of eyeballs last year as its Hindi remake ‘Kabir Singh’ starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani released in 2019. ‘Arjun Reddy’, which released in 2017, raked in big moolah at the box office.
The Sandeep Venga directorial focused on the story of Arjun Reddy Deshmukh, a high-functioning alcoholic surgeon who had anger management problems. The film showcased Arjun’s downfall and subsequent resurgence after his girlfriend got married to someone else.
Vijay Deverakonda’s chemistry with Shalini Pandey was quite a hit among the audience. The actor even won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for ‘Arjun Reddy’.
Pelli Choopulu
Amid the gloomy times, it’s always to better to watch a light-hearted romantic comedy drama and what better than ‘Pelli Choopulu’. The film starred Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma as main leads. The Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam directorial revolved around a boy and a girl, who met each other during a match-making. How their aspirations brought them together formed the crux of the story.
The rom-com won the hearts of the audience and became a commercial success. Interestingly, the film was remade in Hindi as ‘Mitron’.
Mahanati
Although, Vijay Devarakonda was seen in a supporting role in ‘Mahanati’, he managed to impress the movie buffs. The film starred Keerthy Suresh as Savitri and Dulquer Salmaan as Gemini Ganesan. Vijay Devarakonda played the role of Vijay Anthony in the film based on the life of veteran yesteryear actress Savitri. The film should definitely be on your list.
NOTA
Vijay Devarakonda made his Tamil cinema debut with ‘NOTA’ in 2018. The film focused on the story of Varun, the son of Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, who rose to his father's position after corruption charges are leveled against his dad. Varun, with no political experience, has to fulfil the duties of a chief minister for a longer time. The movie also starred Mehreen Pirzada opposite Vijay.
Dear Comrade
Vijay Devarakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s sizzling chemistry in ‘Dear Comrade’ made several hearts skip a beat. Vijay played the role of a heavily drunk, dejected student leader, who is unable to come to terms with the fact that his ladylove Lilly doesn't want him in her life. His character (Bobby) had severe anger management issues and as usual Vijay nailed his role with perfection.
Interestingly, Karan Johar is producing the Hindi remake of 'Dear Comrade'.
