New Delhi: Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher starrer ‘Ghoomer’ released with a good review from the critics but the film’s performance at the box office has been disappointing. The R Balki directorial collected Rs 1.5 crore nett on Sunday, according to Sacnilk.com. The film’s three days total is Rs 3.45 crore.
The film, which opened amid ‘Gadar 2’ creating a storm at the box office, the film opened to Rs 85 lakh on Friday, earned Rs 1.1 crore net on Saturday, and on Sunday collected Rs 1.5 crore at the domestic box office.
The film has received rave reviews from critics with Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher’s performances standing out. Saiyami even received an appreciation note from the megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
In the film, Saiyami essays the role of Anina, a determined athlete who, due to an unfortunate accident loses her right arm, finds strength again to become a history-defying sportsperson.
Saiyami took to social media, sharing the letter which expressed: “In admiration - your grit, your sincerity, your level-headed performance and the brilliance of your presence in Ghoomer. May the accolades never diminish for you” said Big B in the letter.
The megastar had also written an appreciation post for his son Abhishek, who plays the role of a coach, whose life takes an unexpected turn when he meets a paraplegic athlete, played by Saiyami Kher.
He wrote, “T 4741 - Abhishek I can say this as a Father, yes, but also as a member of the fraternity we both belong to .. At this young age and in the time period, you have performed in the most complex characters in film after film .. all different convincing and all successful ..”
The film also stars Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles.
