New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan's return to the silver screen after blockbusters like 'Jawan', 'Pathaan' and 'Dunki' will be a grand affair that superseeds expectations and collections of all previous films. While there have been reports about the megastar starring in Sujoy Ghosh's 'King' alongside his daughter Suhana Khan, not much has been officially announced in the same regard.

While many speculated that the father-daughter duo will portray a similar relationship on-screen, it seems that there is no confirmation about the same. Earlier, in an interview with Variety, SRK had shed some light on his film, calling it a 'massy, emotional film'.

Shah Rukh Khan on his upcoming film 'King'

“It’s a film called King, which is directed by Sujoy Ghosh Kahaani and creatively produced by Siddharth Anand, who made Pathaan. It is an action drama, it’s a Hindi film. It’ll be interesting. I’ve been wanting to do a film like that for some time, and I really wanted to do a film like this for seven, eight years. We just felt Sujoy would be the right choice, because we wanted it to be very emotionally correct. We are all coming together to make a cool, massy, action, emotional film," SRK had told the publication.

Besides Suhana, Abhishek Bachchan will also be seen in a key role in the film.

As per several reports, Shah Rukh will not be playing Suhana's on screen father. Instead, he will be playing the role of a professional assasin, Times Now reported.

Suhana, on the other hand, will be seen playing a girl who has lost her family and is now under SRK's protection.

King’a Leon connection

There is also a rumour that suggests that 'King' has been directly inpsired from the 1994 English language French film 'Léon: The Professional'.

A Times Now report also quoted a source close to the development saying, "It isn’t Leon completely. But yeah, the basic plot in King is inspired by the same source. Shah Rukh was keen to team up with his daughter in a subject where they weren’t playing father and daughter. The Leon format hits all the right buttons.”

As we await official announcement, it will be a delight to watch the father-daughter duo together on screen for the first time. After ‘The Archies’, Suhana will have a lot to prove, and fans are waiting with bated breath to see how that happens.
