Mumbai: Farhan Akhtar is a man of many talents. He is regarded as one of the most multi-talented artists in Bollywood as he has dabbled in filmmaking, acting, singing and direction. The ‘Rock On’ star has managed to carve a niche in the industry with his power-packed performances and master story-telling in films.

He is all set to entertain the audience with a new sports drama ‘Toofan’, which will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video from July 16.

The trailer of the film introduced us to Farhan’s character Aziz Ali, who is a goon turned boxer. Farhan’s physical transformation has become the talk of the town, grabbing several eyeballs for the film. Movie buffs are quite curious to see him in the role of a boxer in his second sports drama after ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’.

Farhan, while exclusively talking to ABP News, revealed what attracted him towards his character and made him say yes to the much-awaited flick.

“His emotional, mental and spiritual journey attracted me to the character. Boxing is very exciting and makes for a great viewing in movies. I always have been a fan of boxing films. Beyond that, there has to be substance and the drama has to be correct. In this film, the relationship that Aziz Ali has with Paresh ji or Mrunal’s character is something that managed to strike a chord with me,” the actor said.

“If you ask me personally, the growth of Aziz Ali and his coach’s character is the heart and soul of the film. The journey of these two characters defines Toofan. This is what excited me,” Farhan added.

The ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ star also said that he is excited to see how the audience will react after watching the drama-packed sequences in ‘Toofan’.

“It’s a love story set against the backdrop of boxing. The relationship, chemistry and the growth that they (Aziz and Ananya) have as a couple and as individuals is what makes the movie endearing. I am excited that people are loving the boxing aspect and physicality. As much as I am appreciative of that, I am also eager to know how they will react when they see the drama in the film unfold.”

‘Toofan’, which has been directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, also stars Mrunal Thakur, Paresh Rawal, Supriya Pathak and Vijay Raaz in key roles.
