New Delhi: Vishal Bhardwaj, a celebrated director, and the late actor Irrfan Khan bonded deeply. Bhardwaj was one of the handful of Irrfan's professional acquaintances to attend his burial in the midst of the epidemic in April 2020, when he passed away.

The director recently opened up about his relationship with Irrfan while promoting 'Kuttey', the debut film of his son Aasmaan Bhardwaj. During an interview with Pinkvilla, the director confessed about missing Irrfan not only on his own sets but also whenever he takes in a terrific film.

“You miss Irrfan in every film. Every film I see, I make, when I see good cinema I miss Irrfan. That is the biggest loss, personal loss to me, and I think for the whole industry,” said Bhardwaj.

The National award-winning filmmaker even said on social media at the time of Irrfan's passing that it will take him some time to process his unexpected death.

“I feared that he would be gone much before his time but didn’t expect that it will be so devastating and ravaging to me personally. It feels as if I am torn into two parts. A part of me has died with him,” said Vishal.

Irrfan and Vishal have worked on a number of popular films, including their breakthrough movie, the Macbeth adaption 'Maqbool', and the Hindi adaptation of Hamlet in the Kashmir-set 'Haider'. They even teamed for '7 Khoon Maaf' and the Meghna Gulzar-directed, 'Talvar'.

Meanwhile, ‘Kuttey’ is produced by Luv Ranjan, Vishal Bhardwaj, Ankur Garg and Rekha Bhardwaj under the banner of Luv Films and Vishal Bhardwaj Films, and presented by Gulshan Kumar and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series.

The film, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj’s son Aasmaan Bhardwaj, is all set for its theatrical release on January 13, 2023.
