Ranbir Kapoor and Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Sanju’ has managed to win the hearts of the audience and it is reflecting in the film’s box office. The Sanjay Dutt biopic has received critical acclaim but some people have also criticised it for trying to whitewash Sanjay Dutt’s image. Now filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma has announced that he will make a biopic on the ‘Khalnayak’ actor which will present some hard-hitting facts.

RGV, while talking to a leading daily confirmed that he is making the film. However, he refused to reveal further details about the upcoming film, including who will play the titular role.

A source told the daily that Ram Gopal Verma watched ‘Sanju’, but was disappointed that the film only dealt with Dutt’s brush with the law.

“That Dutt was doing drugs, was traumatised by his mother’s battle with cancer [she died just three days before the release of his first film Rocky], had multiple flings, many of them onenight stands, is all well documented,” the source told Mumbai Mirror.

The flick is tentatively titled Sanju: The Real Story. According to the report, the film will focus on the events that led to the actor’s arrest in 1993. The movie will also explore other details like the people who threatened the Dutt family, thus leading Sanjay Dutt to acquire the riffle, which later got him in trouble.



The ‘Sarkar’ director has been meeting the ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S’ actor’s associates and the cops releated to Dutt’s case so as to gather information for the film.

“Ramu has been meeting Sanjay’s associates and cops involved with the investigation as part of his research,” the source told the daily.

Sanjay Dutt and Ram Gopal Varma have previously worked together in ‘Daud’ & ‘Department’. The ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3’ actor is yet to react on the announcement of the film based on his life.

Talking about Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Sanju’, the film has minted over Rs 300 crore at the box office. The film starred Paresh Rawal, Vicky Kaushal, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Dia Mirza, along side Ranbir Kapoor.
