Mumbai: Legendary actor Dilip Kumar passed away earlier today. The news of his death was confirmed by his family friend Faisal Farooqui on the legendary actor's official Twitter handle. Many celebrities including Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, and others paid tribute to the 98-year-old actor on their social media.
Veteran actor Dharmendra, paid a visit to Dilip Kumar and offered condolences after the news of his passing away broke out.. He was spotted teary-eyed as he paid tribute to the late actor. When questioned by the media, the ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ actor revealed that Dilip Kumar was like his brother.
Jeetendra shared his thoughts on Dilip Kumar's passing away and said, "What can I say about this legend, Dilip Kumar Sahab, who showed us the way. Who showed us how it's done, with so much grace and elan. He has been an inspiration to people like me who have aspired to be like him in every possible way. His love and warmth is unmatched and there will never be another like him. He was not just a genius on screen but also a great friend and a gem of a person. His contribution to cinema and our lives is huge. I will miss him dearly. May he rest in peace. Condolences to the entire family and Sairaji."
Anil Kapoor also paid a visit to Dilip Kumar and attended his last rites.
Dilip Kumar breathed his last in suburban Khar-based Hinduja Hospital where he was admitted on June 30 due to age-related health issues. The news of his death was confirmed through a statement on his official Twitter handle that read, “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return. - Faisal Farooqui”.
Dilip Kumar’s last rites will be done at 5 pm today in Juhu, Mumbai. The legendary actor will be cremated with full state honours. A tweet from the actor’s official Twitter handle read, “Burial today at 5:00 PM. Juhu Qabrastan at Santacruz Mumbai.”
Reportedly, the actor's funeral ceremony will be held in a cemetery in Santacruz.
Dilip Kumar had featured in hits like ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Naya Daur’, and ‘Ram Aur Shyam’. His last big-screen appearance was in the 1998 film ‘Qila’.
