Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter’s ‘Dhadak, which hit the silver screens on July 20, received a massive response at the box office on its first day. Dhadak Day 1 box office collection stood at Rs 8.71 crore which is the highest for any film featuring a newcomer. The Shashank Khaitan directorial beat  Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan & Sidharth Malhotra starrer ‘Student of the Year’ and Tiger Shroff’s ‘Heropanti’ to become the highest opening newcomer film in Bollywood.

The film, which is the Hindi remake of Marathi blockbuster ‘Sairat’, has witnessed a solid growth of 26.75% on day two. The romantic drama collected Rs 11.04 crore on the second day to take the total collection to Rs 19.75 crore. ‘Dhadak’ has now set its eyes on minting over Rs 30 crore in the first weekend.

Bollywood trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh shared Dhadak’s second day box office collection on Twitter. He mentioned that the film's business on Sunday is expected to be higher than Saturday.


Dhadak has managed to surpass all the expectations of the trade pundits. The film, which marked the Bollywood debut of late Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor, has been appreciated by the industry and fans. Janhvi and Ishaan’s sizzling and fresh chemistryhas helped the film grabbed several eyeballs.

Dhadak, which released across 2791 screens worldwide, has also done quite well in the international markets.


Karan Johar, who earlier thanked the fans for their appreciation, shared a video on Twitter where audience can be seen showering the Dhadak's team with love.
