Deepika Padukone to be India’s Wonder Woman in a first ever Bollywood female superhero movie

While there was a lot of curiosity and rumours around Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone for not signing any movie after ‘Padmaavat’, the stunning actress has put a full stop to all those speculations.  Deepika will now star in Bollywood’s first ever female superhero movie! Yes! You read that right. According to the reports, the ‘Tamasha’ actress who charmed everyone with her unique fashion sense at the red carpets of Met Gala and Cannes 2018 has been roped in for a massive multi-crore female superhero franchise. Deepika will be seen in a role inspired by Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. “After going through several scripts, Deepika has finally locked one and this is a massive superhero film. Deepika will have various action scenes which fans haven’t seen her doing before. The untitled film will be produced by Fox Star and she’s quite excited about it already,” an insider told popular magazine Filmfare. The Ram-Leela actress is very excited for this project and is taking a keen interest in everything related to it. Deepika’s costume and character will take after Gal’s, with a “special costume that will be designed for her character which will be custom-made to facilitate hardcore physical combat and movement,” reports a popular daily. The well-toned and fit gorgeous actress will reportedly undergo intense mixed-martial arts training and learn various styles of hand-to-hand combat for the movie. A source close to the production also told Mumbai Mirror that, “The developments have been kept under wraps with a creative team holding discreet meetings with Deepika on a regular basis. Presently, a running bid is on for Rs. 300 crore among multiple investors for the first two installments of the franchise.” The production is in its initial stages and the movie aims to go on floors in 2019. The Bajirao Mastani actress was also in news this year over the shooting of Vishal Bhardwaj’s film ‘Sapna Didi Biopic’ which was to go on floors but due to her co-star Irrfan Khan’s heartbreaking diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumour, the film has been put on hold. We already saw Dips flying kicks and doing some hard core action in her debut Hollywood film ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ alongside Vin Diesel in 2017. It will definitely be a treat to watch Bollywood’s top actress Deepika Padukone slaying the evil Gal Gadot style here in India now! And we can’t wait! The excitement’s too much!
