New Delhi: Ranveer Singh’s ‘83’, which was slated to hit the silver screens on April 10, has got postponed. The makers of the much-awaited film issued a statement on Friday (March 20) and said that they have decided the put the release of ‘83’ on hold due to the Coronavirus outbreak.


Ranveer Singh took to Twitter and Instagram to share the statement. He wrote, “83 is not just our film but the entire nation’s film. But the health and safety of the nation always comes first. Stay safe, take care. We shall be back soon!”

“In the wake of the risks posed by the recent outbreak of COVID-19 and the growing health concerns, the release of 83 has been put on hold. We will take a decision regarding the next course of action once the conditions return to normal. We urge our fans to take all the necessary precautions and take care of their loved ones. 83 is a film about fighting the odds and we hope we all will bounce back from this soon,” the statement read.



We had earlier informed you that '83' is most likely to get postponed due to the Coronavirus scare. The makers were planning to launch the film’s trailer at grand event on March 11. However, they had to cancel the event due to the threat of the deadly virus.

The film co-starring Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk and Pankaj Tripathi is based on India's 1983 Cricket World Cup victory. The sports drama has been directed by Kabir Khan.



Deepika Padukone is playing the role of Ranveer's on-screen wife Romi Bhatia in the movie. The makers had shared DP's first look from '83' last month.



The release date of several films including Akshay Kumar's 'Sooryavanshi', 'Haathi Mere Saathi'  and 'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar' have been delayed in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
