Get ready for Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra's 'reel' Aashiqui, as the rumoured couple of Bollywood has been roped in to play the lead roles in the third part of 'Aashiqui' franchise.

Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Alia's filmmaker father and the director of  the original 'Aashiqui' confirmed the news and  informed that his daughter Alia and Sidharth Malhotra have been approached to play the lead.

While Alia hasn't spoken about it yet, Sidharth recently confirmed the news to TOI. En route Bangkok for an ad shoot, the actor revealed that "Scripting is in progress but it should be up and running next year. 'Aashiqui 2' had lots of love, angst and music. I'm looking forward to more" .

The Kapoor & Sons actor also said that  "Mohit (director Mohit Suri) wants me to sing one song," he revealed, adding that learning to play the guitar was a prerequisite. "This kind of prep is a given today. I have to get rhythm in my voice and fingers."

On a question that whether Alia will help with the prep since she's already a playback singer?

Sidharth quipped "I hope so and if I can match up to her talent, maybe we could sing a duet, that would be a first for an actor and actress who've debuted together,".

Earlier there were reports that Alia will be romancing Hrithik in Aashiqui 3 but looks like her sizzling chemistry with Sidharth in their last blockbuster 'Kapoor & Sons' led the makers to lock them in the musical romantic flick.

We are sure Alia & Sidharth will create the same magic as Shraddha and Aditya created in 'Aashiqui 2'.
