The upcoming film will be produced by Phantom Films while Sarvesh Mewara will don the hat of the director.
Aishwarya told the daily that the script had come to them about a year and half back but they couldn’t take a decision as Abhishek was keen on taking a break.
“AB and I agreed to do Gulab Jamun. I told AB that he needs to decide what he wants to do after Manmarziyan,” the ‘Devdas’ actress told Mid-Day.
Talking about the film, Aishwarya said that the two of them fit the bill perfectly. ‘’It is a beautiful script and we fit the narrative perfectly,” the ‘Taal’ actress told the daily.
The ‘Sarbjit’ star further added, “The script has to be interesting if a real-life couple is coming together.”
When asked how the two of them judge a script before saying yes to it, Aishwarya said, “We have got many scripts, and at times, we got tempted too. But then, we discuss it out loud. We take stock and say, ‘Does it excite us?’ Why should marriage define out choices? Shouldn’t we be actually approaching the story as individual actors?”
Aishwarya and Abhishek, who are proud parents to six-year-old Aaradhaya, have also been part of films like ‘Kuch Na Kaho’, ‘Umrao Jaan’, ‘Dhoom 2’ and ‘Guru’. Seeing the two together again on the big screen will be a treat to all their fans.
On the work front, Aishwarya will be next seen in ‘Fanney Khan’, which is slated to release on August 3. The gorgeous actress is playing the role of a singer Baby Singh in the film which also stars Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao.
Talking about Abhishek, the ‘Bunty Aut Babli’ actor will make his comeback after a gap of two years with 'Manmarziyaan'. The Anurag Kashyap directorial co-starring Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu will release on September 14.
