New Delhi: Two much-awaited films, ‘Chhapaak’ and ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’, hit the silver screens on January 10, 2020. Both the movies, belonging to different genres, received good reviews from the critics. Ajay Devgn’s ‘Tanhaji’ has taken the lead over Deepika Padukone’s ‘Chhapaak’. The period drama has become the first Hindi film of 2020 to enter the Rs 100 crore club. ‘Tanhaji’ has minted a total of Rs 118. 91 crore while ‘Chhapaak’ has collected Rs 28.38 crore in its first week.

Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first week box office collection of ‘Tanhaji’ and ‘Chhapaak’.

Ajay Devgn essayed the role of Maratha warrior Subedar Tanhaji Malusare in ‘Tanhaji’. Saif Ali Khan portrayed the antagonist Udaybhan Rathod, who fought against Shivaji and his army during the Battle of Sinhagad. Kajol was seen as Ajay Devgn's on-screen wife Savitri Bai in the film.

Talking about ‘Chhapaak’, the movie is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The Meghna Gulzar directorial has not been able to perform as per the expectations.
