After taking a break for her wedding with beau Ranveer Singh, Bollywood actress recently started work on her next film 'Chhapaak'. Directed by 'Raazi' fame Meghna Gulzar, the much-awaited film 'Chhapaak' is based on the life of acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Last month, Deepika Padukone finally shared her first look from 'Chhapaak' as an acid attack survivor 'Malti' as she started shooting for the film in Delhi. A new picture of Deepika Padukone from 'Chhapaak' sets is doing the rounds on Internet.

In the viral picture, Deepika is all smiles as she got snapped in her 'Chhapaak' look while shooting for the film. The 'Padmaavat' actress has undergone a transformation and she is looking unrecognizable in her look as an acid attack survivor due to the prosthetics.

For the uninitiated, Laxmi was 15 when the attack occurred, which was at a New Delhi bus stop in 2005. Her attacker, a 32-year old man, was an acquaintance of her family. Later, she took up the job of helping acid attack survivors and promoted campaigns to stop such attacks. Agarwal is a well-known advocate of stricter punishments in acid attack cases.

Through Laxmi’s story, the film makes an attempt to understand the on-ground consequences of surviving an acid attack in India.

Coming back to 'Chhapaak', Vikrant Massey will be seen opposite Deepika Padukone for the first time in the film which is slated to hit the theatres on 10th January, 2020.
