Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi is all set to unravel discrepancies in the Indian education system with his upcoming film 'Cheat India'. Recently, the film was in the limelight as its release got preponed to avoid clashing with Bal Thackeray's biopic titled 'Thackeray' featuring Nawazudding Siddiqui in titular role. Now, the film is again in the news as it's titled has now been changed to 'Why Cheat India" after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBSE) expressed concern over it.

A statement issued on behalf of the film's producers -- T-Series Films, Ellipsis Entertainment and Emraan Hashmi Films -- read: "The CBFC had concerns about the title 'Cheat India'. We had an extensive conversation with the Examining Committee and Revising Committee regarding the proposed change as the film has been in public domain for a year, and more importantly, because the theatrical teaser, trailer and television promos had already been certified with the original title.

"This would lead to dual communication a week before the release. The duress of lack of time left us with no choice but to mutually agree to the new title, 'Why Cheat India'."

Film's lead actor & producer Emraan shared the  film's new poster on social media with captioned: "Don't ask WHY! But it's WHY! #WhyCheatIndia"

The movie focuses on the issue of granting fake certificates to undeserving candidates for a bribe. Emraan fraudulently gets students into engineering and management colleges and has a whole team of people who write for other candidates, and in the end, everyone gets what they want.

It is actor Emraan Hashmi's first production project. He features in the project alongside actress Shreya Dhanwanthary.

Helmed by 'Gulaab Gang' director Soumik Sen, the film is slated to release on 18th January.
