Acclaimed filmmaker Payal Kapadia’s Cannes-winning feature ‘All We Imagine As Light’ is set to hit theatres across India on November 22. Kapadia made the exciting announcement on Thursday, following the film's successful release in select theatres in Kerala earlier this year and its recent international debut in France and Italy.

All We Imagine As Light to release in theatres

The film made history in May by becoming the first Indian movie to win the prestigious Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival. Now, thanks to a distribution partnership with Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media, the movie will finally be available to Indian audiences on the big screen.

Sharing her excitement at a press conference, Kapadia said, "This film has been a long journey, and now, with Spirit Media’s support, I am thrilled for the next chapter. It’s the first time one of my films will have a theatrical release in India, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience it in cinemas, where cinema truly comes alive."

Rana Daggubati, speaking about the film’s release, expressed his enthusiasm: "We are beyond excited to bring this remarkable film to Indian theatres. At Spirit Media, our goal is to introduce unique and meaningful stories to viewers across the country. Payal has crafted a beautiful piece of cinema, and we’re eager for Indian audiences to see it."

About All We Imagine As Light

‘All We Imagine As Light’, a Malayalam-Hindi feature, centers on the story of Prabha, a nurse whose life takes a sudden turn when she receives an unexpected gift from her estranged husband. Meanwhile, her younger roommate Anu struggles to find privacy in the bustling city to be with her boyfriend. The two women embark on a road trip to a beach town with their friend Parvati, where a mystical forest becomes the backdrop for their dreams and desires to unfold.

The film, starring Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam, is a co-production between France’s petit chaos and India’s Chalk & Cheese and Another Birth. It will be screened in major cities across India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kolkata.

Following its Indian release, ‘All We Imagine As Light’ will also make its way to theatres in the UK and US next month, further solidifying its international appeal.
