Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan starrer 'Bunty Aur Babli', also featuring Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal role, released in the year 2005 and went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year. Last year, there was a buzz that 'Yash Raj Films' head honcho is planning a sequel to his much-loved production venture 'Bunty Aur Babli' and the news has now turned out to be true. Yash Raj Films has finally announced that 'Bunty Aur Babli 2' is being made and the film will be set in today’s day and age.


The much-anticipated sequel will see a huge time leap of 10 years and introduce an incredibly fresh pair as the talented conmen 'Bunty aur Babli'. The makers have finally announced the film's star cast. 'Gully Boy' fame Siddharth Chaturvedi and Mumbai girl Sharvari will be seen playing the new age 'Bunty aur Babli' in the sequel. 'Bunty Aur Babli 2' will mark Sharvari's Bollywood debut.

Announcing the film and star cast, official handle of 'Yash Raj Films' tweeted, "Meet the new Bunty aur Babli! @SiddhantChturvD | #Sharvari | #BuntyAurBabli2 | #VarunSharma"

The much-awaited film will be directed by Varun Sharma, who was an Assistant Director on YRF’s biggest blockbusters 'Sultan' and 'Tiger Zinda Hai'. Varun Sharma have also written the film's script.

“Bunty Aur Babli 2 is completely set in today’s time. Siddhant caught everyone’s eye with his brilliant acting debut in Gully Boy and became the heartthrob of the nation. We are very excited to have him play the role of Bunty. He is a superb actor, is extremely charming and he fits the role perfectly. Sharvari is an extremely special actress to watch out for. She is a powerful performer and you have to watch her on-screen to understand what we mean. Given the film and the roles, they are definitely the perfect casting. They are a fresh, hot pair and their chemistry and energy is infectious,” said Varun in a statement.

While the cast of 'Bunty Aur Babli 2' has already started shooting for the film, it is not yet clear if Rani & Abhishek will be a part of the sequel or not.
