The trailer of the film was released on Tuesday morning and soon after it was unveiled, the 1-minute 49-seconds clip has embroiled in controversy over the insensitive portrayal of late actress Sridevi's life. Here's the controversial trailer:
The trailer concludes with the death of Priya's character in the film in a bathtub that appears to be quite similar to Sridevi's death due to accidental drowning last year.
In the film, Priya plays the character of a lonely actress, who dies in a fashion eerily similar to that of Sridevi.
The trailer seems to have irked Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor who sent a legal notice to the makers of the film.
Confirming the same to an online portal, director of 'Sridevi Bunglow' Mambully said, “We received a legal notice from Mr Boney Kapoor last week. And we will face it. My film is a suspense thriller. I told him (Boney Kapoor) that Sridevi is a common name. My film’s character also happens to be an actress. We will face it.”
Priya, on the other hand, has neither accepted nor denied whether the film is based on the life of Sridevi.
