Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Thursday (November 25) rejected an anticipatory bail application, which was filed by Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra in connection with an FIR registered against him for allegedly circulating obscene videos, according to a report in PTI. Kundra had filed an anticipatory bail application, seeking protection from arrest in the alleged porn films case. Poonam Pandey and Sherlyn Chopra are named as the co-accused in the FIR.
Justice Nitin Sambre rejected Kundra's petition, a day after reserving the order. The court will release a detailed order later.
The cyber cell of the Mumbai Police had registered a case against Raj Kundra under different sections of the IPC, Indecent Representation of Women (Prevention) Act, and IT Act for allegedly distributing obscene videos, the report in PTI said.
The businessman had sought anticipatory bail from the sessions court; however, it was rejected. He moved the Bombay HC, seeking protection from arrest and claiming that he was 'framed up'. His lawyers said that Kundra was not connected with content creation or transmission of alleged illegal videos in any way. They said that actors, who have been named as co-accused, gave their permission to shoot the videos.
The Mumbai Police had arrested Raj Kundra in another case where he was accused of being involved in distribution of porn films through a mobile application. He walked out of jail after receiving bail in September 2021.
