New Delhi: The Sushant Singh Rajput death case is currently being investigated by three central agencies namely the CBI, the ED and the NCB. The Narcotics Control Bureau came into the scenario when a ‘drug angle’ emerged during the probe and since then the agency has arrested Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty and many others. While investigating the case, the agency launched a massive crackdown against the use of banned drugs in Bollywood. In the latest development, the NCB has been granted custody to Kshitij R. Prasad till October 3.
Though the producer has denied all charges against him claiming that he has been framed, Prasad was produced before a Magistrate Court by the agency seeking his custody for 9 days. The Court however granted for 6 days.
Some amount of marijuana has been seized from Kshitij’s home by the agency. They also found a connection with several drug peddlers during their investigation. On September 25, the Narcotics Control Bureau searched the ex-Dharmatic Entertainment employee’s house and recovered a rolled joint believed to be the remnants of a smoked Ganja roll. They also seized certain documents and gadgets.
The NCB said that the accused Kshitij Prasad is indirectly connected with Anuj Keshwani from whom the agency seized commercial quantities of narcotics.
In the 7-page remand application, Murari Lal, the NCB Joint Intelligence Officer said, ‘Sanket Patel, a peddler who had been arrested earlier, had supplied Ganja to Prasad on the orders of another co-accused Karamjeet Singh Anand. Currently on bail, Patel said that he had delivered the Ganja to Prasad outside his home in Adani Building, Andheri west, 12 times between May-July 2020. For each consignment of 50gm, Prasad paid him Rs 3,500 -- coming to a total of 600gm Ganja worth Rs 42,000 in that period.’
The NCB has arrested 20 people Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Abbas Lakhani, Karan Arora, Zaid Vilatra, Abdul Basit Parihar, Samuel Miranda, Dipesh Sawant, Kaizan Ebrahim, Anuj Keswani, Ankush Arneja, Karamjeet Singh Anand, Sanket Patel, Sandeep Gupta, Aftab Ansari, Dwyane Fernandes, Suryadeep Malhotra, Chris Costa, Rahil Vishram and lastly Kshitij Prasad.
