Amitabh Bachchan on Friday  made his stance clear on Udta Punjab's ongoing controversy. The actor said that the Censor Board works according to rules and regulations set up by the government.

The Censor Board has apparently raised objections while clearing director Abhishek Chaubey’s “Udta Punjab“. When asked about it at an event, Bachchan said though he was not aware about the Udta Punjab’s issue with the board, he feels the body clears films based on certain rules.

“I think the government has some rules and regulations and they have formed Censor Board for it (film clearance). They (the Board) have they their own rules. I don’t know the reason why they did it to them (makers of ‘Udta Punjab’). I think that the producers and the board would know,” he said.

Recently, A senior CBFC official said, “We have just held back the certification. The film producers have the option to move Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT). It is only about certain expletives and nothing more.” He refused to comment on whether the certification process had anything to do with the drug abuse.

Interestingly, Udta Punjab which deals with drug abuse issue is scheduled for release on June 17, seven months ahead of the 2017 assembly polls.
