Shahid Kapoor- Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’, which hit the cinema theatres on September 21, has gained momentum on its second day. The much-awaited film, which also stars Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma, minted Rs 6.76 crore on the first day. The Shree Narayan Singh directorial improved it performance on second day and witnessed a growth of 17.75 per cent. Batti Gul Meter Chalu Day 2 box office collection stood at Rs 7.96 crore. The film has earned a total of Rs 14.72 crore in two days.

After entertaining the audience with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, Shree Narayan Singh has addressed the issue of inflated electricity bills and electricity theft in BGMC. The film has managed to create waves with his storyline and fans even the movie buffs have given it a thumbs up.

Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s last releases –‘Padmaavat’ and ‘Stree’ has created ripples at the box office and trade pundits are expecting ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ to do the same. The two power-packed performers are reuniting on the silver screen after four years. They have previously collaborated for Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Haider’.

Bollywood trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share  ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ box office collection.


‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’, which is set against the backdrop of Uttarakhan, has received mixed reviews from the critics. The film has five more days to shine at the box office as Varun Dhawan- Anushka Sharma’s ‘Sui Dhaaga’ and Sanya Malhotra-Radhika Madan’s ‘Pataakha are slated to release next Friday.
