New Delhi: As a video of Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar sloganeering along with Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) protestors in Delhi went viral on social media went viral on Saturday, furious Twitterati started trending #ArrestSwaraBhaskar on Twitter.


With around 22.8K users tweeting about the same, the hashtag is trending at the top spot. An angry netizen wrote, “Give me one reason why Swara Bhaskar shouldn’t be arrested.” Another user questioned her writing, “How many resident Indians lost their citizenships due to the CAA @reallySwara? She helped too incite Delhi riots that claimed lives of 50+ innocent people.”

Many users shared her January 5 post wherein she had urged residents of Delhi to protest writing, “Delhi! Get on the streets.”

Many users also demanded the arrest of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kapil Mishra, who is accused of hate-mongering during the Delhi election campaign and ahead of the communal violence in northeast Delhi.

Responding to allegations and commenting about the top trending hashtag, Bhaskar wrote, “And that my friends.. is why most celebrities in India only raise their voices for elephants! #safoorazargar #ArrestSwaraBhaskar #bizarrebuttrue.”



The Raanjhanaa actress has been a part of Twitter controversies for a long time now and has mastered the art of shutting trolls. In fact, she has even tweeted, “Basically, if I’m not involved in a #twittercontroversy once a week, assume I’m dead!!! #realisation.”
