‘Arjun Reddy’ Actor Vijay Deverakonda To Make His Bollywood Debut With ‘Kedarnath’ Director Abhishek Kapoor’s Next?

New Delhi: Popular for his work in the Telugu cinema, Vijay Deverakonda made his debut with the 2011 Telugu romantic comedy ‘Nuvvila’. He made his debut as a lead in the 2016 romantic comedy ‘Pelli Choopulu’. The ‘Yevade Subramanyam’ actor established himself as a leading actor by starring in critical and commercially successful movies like ‘Arjun Reddy’, ‘Mahanati’, ‘Geetha Govindam’, and ‘Taxiwaala’. The actor cum producer is now all set to make his Bollywood debut with Gattu Kapoor’s next movie on Balakot Airstrike.



Co-produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Bhushan Kumar, the ‘Kai Po Che!’ director’s next will illustrate the Pulwama attack where 40 CRPF personnel were martyred on February 14. Post which, the Balakot airstrike was conducted by the Indian Air Force in the wee hours of February 26. In the airstrike, the Indian warplanes attacked and targeted a Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist camp in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

A source close revealed to PinkVilla, “The untitled project on Balakot Air Strike will mostly be South superstar Vijay Deverakonda's big Bollywood debut. While his next film Fighter will be dubbed in Hindi and given a pan-India release, Abhishek's directorial will be his full-fledged Hindi feature. He will play the role of Wing Commander and national hero Abhinandan Varthaman who was kept captive in Pakistan for 60 hours following the India-Pakistan standoff. The film will trace the Pulwama attack, the airstrike and Abhinandan's time in captivity in the neighbouring country and his return to India.”

He added, “When Vijay was offered the project, he expressed his interest in it. While he still has not signed on the dotted line, the COVID outbreak delayed things further. Right now, the team has no clue of when to bring the film on floors. Abhishek will first finish his film with Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor and then proceed with this ambitious project.”

Other than this, Vijay was featured by Forbes India in their ’30 Under 30’ list of 2019 and was also the most searched South-Indian actor in 2019. His upcoming movie 'Fighter' will also star Ananya Panday.
