Mumbai: Virat Kohli set several tongues wagging when he shared a post to inform about his decision to step down as the captain of the Indian Cricket T20I team after the World Cup, which will be conducted in the UAE and Oman. Cricket lovers were disappointed after the RCB skipper made the announcement on social media. His wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma re-posted Virat’s post on her Instagram story, extending support to the star batsman.
The ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ actress has now shared a cryptic post on her Insta story, a day after Virat decided to quit T20I captaincy. She wrote, “Perception and reality are two different things- Anonymous.”
Several rumours have been floating on the internet about Virat Kohli after the 32-year-old stepped down as India’s T20I skipper. Sharma's post comes at a time when speculations about Kohli and Rohit Sharma's rift have spread like wildfire.
Anushka and Virat are currently stationed at the UAE for the second leg of the Indian Premiere League (IPL) 2021. The couple welcomed their first child after three years of marriage. They have named their daughter Vamika Kohli, who was born on January 11, 2021.
Kohli, while responding to an Instagram user, divulged the reason why he and Anushka have decided to not reveal their daughter’s face on social media.
Virat To Continue To Lead Team India In Test & ODI
The right-hand batsman confirmed that he will continue to lead the Indian Cricket team in test and one-day international matches.
"Understanding workload is a very important thing and considering my immense workload over the last 8-9 years playing all 3 formats and captaining regularly for last 5-6 years, I feel I need to give myself space to be fully ready to lead the Indian Team in Test and ODI Cricket. I have given everything to the Team during my time as T20 Captain and I will continue to do so for the T20 Team as a batsman moving forward," Kohli's statement read.
Talking about Anushka, the ‘Pari’ star was last seen in Aanand L Rai’s ‘Zero’. The film co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif hit the silver screens in 2018. Although Sharma has not featured in a Hindi movie in a long time, she is busy producing projects in the OTT space under her home banner.
Last year, Anushka successfully delivered ‘Bulbbul’ and ‘Pataal Lok’, which managed to win hearts of the audience. Both the projects received critical acclaim upon release on the OTT platforms.
