Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani was the centre of controversy around violence, misogyny and charges of unruly behaviour by a male protagonist in a film propagated by the likes of actors who portray such roles. At the time, Sandeep Reddy Vanga defended his film vigorously in several interviews.
In an interview with film critic Anupama Chopra, Sandeep Reddy Vanga had spoken about not finding an emotion when a man cannot ‘touch, slap or use cuss words’ for his woman.

'Animal' revolves around the troubled relationship of a father and son played by Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor respectively. As Anil Kapoor gets injured, Ranbir takes on himself to avenge his father's accident in the film.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga of 'Kabir Singh' and 'Arjun Reddy' fame, 'Animal' is a crime-drama thriller that has been written, directed and edited by the filmmaker himself.
The film received several cuts from the Censor board and has an 'Adults Only (A) certificate attached to it. As per several media reports, 'Animal' was also almost four hours long until Reddy Vanga cut it down to an almost three and a half hour film.
As for 'Animal's advance bookings collection, the Ranbir Kapoor film has a lot of ground footing. According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "

The film critic also cited more than 3 lakhs tickets sold at the time of writing.
Produced by T-Series, Bhadrakali Pictures and Cine1 Studios, with a runtime of 201 minutes, 'Animal' is one of India's longest films till date.
The film's score has been composed by Harshvardhan Rameshwar, who has scored music for Reddy's previous films 'Arjun Reddy' and its Hindi remake 'Kabir Singh'. Until now, almost eight tracks from the films have been released.
