New Delhi: The Ranbir Kapoor-led film 'Animal' has become one of the year's biggest hits after over three weeks of successful run in theatres. Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that the movie earned Rs 5 crore on its 20th day of release, bringing its total nett domestic box office receipts to Rs 528.69 crore. With this, Animal surpasses Gadar 2, which brought in Rs 525.45 crore nett in India following its August release.

With a global gross of over Rs 851 crore, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film is comfortably the third-biggest Indian film of the year, behind Jawan and Pathaan. Animal is getting close to the conclusion of its run as it moves into its fourth week of release, as Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Dunki' and Prabhas starrer 'Salaar' take over the box-office.

In an interview with Connect FM Canada, the director said that the critics are selectively critical of his film. He also said they should ‘go to China to teach English.’

"It's out of their capacity, I have seen other reviews also. The way they talk, they should go to China to teach English. Because they come up with new English words in every other video review. Other than that you won't find anything else. Even in Kabir Singh, they were selective (in criticising) that Kabir (Shahid Kapoor) slapped, they didn't mention that Preeti (Kiara Advani) was the first person to slap,” he said in the interview.

The greatest success in Ranbir Kapoor's career has been Animal. Prior to this, Rajkumar Hirani's 2018 film Sanju, which earned about Rs 590 crore globally and Rs 342.53 crore in India, was his biggest hit. Animal is now the biggest ‘A’ rated grosser in the country.

Following the massive box-office success of the film, the makers have already announced its sequel titled 'Animal Park.'

'Animal' also stars Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Tripti Dimri and Saurabh Sachdeva among others.
