New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor has delivered his career's best box office opening weekend with his latest release 'Animal'. The advance ticket booking for ‘Animal’ suggested that it would have a huge opening weekend collection. Directed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy, the film has been dominating the Indian box office. The first weekend of Animal's release in India alone reportedly brought in Rs 201.53 crore and now is close to hitting Rs 250 crore mark in India.
Sacnilk has estimated that ‘Animal made around Rs 39.90 crore from ticket sales on Monday. The film's total domestic box office collection has reached Rs 241.43 crore. At the box office in India, the movie is expected to surpass Rs 250 crore by tomorrow.
The film has been gaining attention since its premiere due to its immense popularity, and it earned Rs 63.8 crore on its first day in cinemas. On the second day, The Sandeep Reddy Vanga film grossed Rs 66.27 crore, while on the third day, it made Rs 71.46 crore. By this point, ticket sales had dropped, perhaps due to the fact that it was a Weekday.
On December 4, the film pulled in 48.92% of the Hindi audience. Night and evening show occupancy numbers, especially in cities like Mumbai, NCR, and Pune, demonstrate how enthusiastic the crowd is about the film.
Similar to Reddy's other works, 'Animal' explores toxic masculinity. These include the Telugu-language film 'Arjun Reddy' (2017) and the Hindi-language remake 'Kabir Singh' (2019).
The film stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Triptii Dimri.
ABPLive review of the movie reads: 'Animal' depicts the drive for vengeance that turns one blind to both good and bad choices, much like any other revenge tale. At its heart, Ranbir Kapoor starrer is a family drama, but it is also a parenting lesson above all things. The premise, with its clashing families and retaliation, evokes memories of the 90s Hindi cinema.
