New Delhi: Ayushmann Khurrana's film 'An Action Hero' had an unimpressive opening weekend, earning just Rs 3.47 crore over the course of two days. The Anirudh Iyer-helmed action movie reportedly made roughly Rs 2.16 crore on its second day after premiering to a lowly Rs 1.31 crore on Friday.

Taran Adarsh, a film critic and trade analyst, shared the figures on Twitter and wrote,"#AnActionHero gets the much-needed boost/jump on Day 2, but the 2-day total remains extremely low, despite favourable word of mouth… Mass circuits are weak… Needs miraculous turnaround on Day 3… Fri 1.31 cr, Sat 2.16 cr. Total: ₹ 3.47 cr. #India biz."

Ayushmann portrays Maanav, a movie star who is on the run after a guy died during a film shoot, in the satire 'An Action Hero', which also stars Jaideep Ahlawat. The latter portrays the sibling of the deceased person who plans to exact revenge on Manav.

According to the ABP live review of the film, "'An Action Hero' is thoroughly engaging. The sequences have a penchant for detail. The film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, an ace performer whose characters' crude, satanic depth is easily matched and complemented by the level-headed, and cool swagger of Ayushmann's character."

Although there have been favourable reviews for the movie, viewers didn't seem to be interested in this tale of revenge.

'An Action Hero', written by Neeraj Yaadav, is a joint production of T-Series and Colour Yellow Productions. Meanwhile, 'Dream Girl 2', starring Ananya Panday, is Ayushmann Khurrana's upcoming film, and 'The Devotion Of Suspect X' adaptation, starring Jaideep, is set to arrive in theatres in India in 2023.
