Akshay Kumar was condemned after he was spotted holding Indian tricolor upside down during the India Vs England finale match for Women’s Cricket World Cup trophy in Lords on Sunday, post which the 'Toilet Ek Katha' actor removed his post apologizing for violating the code of conduct for the tricolor.


In a now deleted tweet, the ‘Rustom’ star, while cheering for the Indian team, was seen waving the Indian flag upside down. Following which, the actor was trolled on social media.

Akshay then tweeted, “Extending my sincerest apology for violating the code of conduct for the tricolor. Didn’t mean to offend anyone,the picture has been removed”


The 49-year-old actor has once again opened up on the issue and narrates the actually story behind that viral photo. Present at the Press Conference held to promote his upcoming film 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha' that stars Bhumi Pednekar opposite him, Akshay told media - "What happened is, I was unfurling the flag and at the time I noticed it was upside down. While I was trying to steady it, someone clicked a photo from behind and even I did not notice it. But if someone's sentiments are hurt, I seek an apology."
