Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Laxmii’, which premiered on Star Gold on March 21, has received an amazing response from the television viewers. The horror comedy drama has recorded the highest number of impressions for a Bollywood film in recent times. The Raghava Lawrence directorial garnered record breaking numbers during its world television premiere. The film has set the TRP charts on fire, clocking over 2.50 crore impressions in the urban and rural marker.


Akshay Kumar’s fan took to Twitter to express their happiness after ‘Laxmii’ registered mind-boggling numbers. One user tweeted, “This is huge #Laxmii clocking 2.51cr impressions on first run is just outstanding, beating #Housefull4 numbers is itself a big task but Laxmii has gone way ahead of it.. congrats.”

Another user wrote, “#LAXMII records BLOCKBUSTER rating on it's WORLD TELEVISION PREMIERE. Clocks 2.51 crore viewership, certainly the biggest premiere. Always said, the audience of #Laxmii  was on the television, and a direct to satellite premiere might have grabbed even more eyeballs.”

According to reports, ‘Laxmii’ became the highest TRP-rated film by beating Salman Khan starrer ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which also premiered on Star Gold.



‘Laxmii’ was originally slated to hit the silver screens on Eid 2020; however, it couldn’t release due to the COVID-19 crisis. The makers decided to skip the theatrical route and release their film on an OTT platform.


The movie premiered directly on Disney+ Hotstar on November 9, 2020. According to the statement issued by the streaming giant, ‘Laxmii’ emerged as the biggest opener on Hotstar.


‘Laxmii, which is the remake of Tamil hit ‘Kanchana’, also starred Kiara Advani and Sharad Kelkar. The movie was initially titled ‘Laxmmi Bomb’; however, the makers had to change the name to ‘Laxmii’ after some groups expressed their displeasure over the film’s title.
