New Delhi: Bollywood director and cousin of Ajay Devgn, Anil Devgn breathed his last on October 5. The director suffered a cardiac arrest last night. The ‘Tanhaji’ actor took to his social media, shared a picture of his brother and updated the news of his passing away.


Ajay Devgn disclosed that he has lost his brother last night and that his untimely demise has left the family in shock. He further went on to write that he will miss his presence dearly. The ‘Singham’ actor updated that they will not hold a personal prayer meeting owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ’Drishyam’ actor’s tweet read, “I lost my brother Anil Devgan last night. His untimely demise has left our family heartbroken. ADFF & I will miss his presence dearly. Pray for his soul. Due to the pandemic, we will not have a personal prayer meet”



Also, on the occasion of Daughter’s Day, the ‘Raid’ actor took to his social media and shared a special post for his daughter Nysa calling her his sharpest critic.

The ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ actor’s caption read, “My daughter, Nysa is many things. My sharpest critic, my biggest weakness & strength as well. She’s a young adult but to Kajol & me, she will always be our baby girl #HappyDaughtersDay”



Anil Devgn has directed three movies – ‘Raju Chacha’ (2000), ‘Blackmail’ (2005) and ‘Haal-e-Dil’ (2008). He has been an assistant director in movies like ‘Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha’, ‘Itihaas’ and others. He was also the creative director for Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha starrer movie ‘Son Of Sardaar’.

Son of Veeru Devgn, Anil Devgn is survived by his wife and a son.

On the professional front, Ajay Devgn was last seen in the movie ‘Tanhaji’ co-starring Kajol and Saif Ali Khan. The actor has recently announced his upcoming project which will be based on the Galwan Valley clash that martyred 20 soldiers.
