New Delhi: Members of a group called Rashtra Pratham caused an uproar inside a theatre and interrupted the screening of 'Adipurush', based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, on Sunday night in Mumbai. At 8 pm in the evening, they entered the theatre situated in the Capital Mall of Nalasopara, Mumbai, and started waving protest signs, forcing the management to halt the movie's screening.

On Monday morning, workers from the same group returned to the mall and started shouting anti-movie slogans. Security guards stationed at the theatre made every attempt to persuade them, but all in vain.

All Hindi films will no longer be screened in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, as of Monday due to the "objectionable" language and portrayal of Sita in the historical epic 'Adipurush', a top municipal official declared on Sunday.

"Screening of all the Hindi films will be barred within Kathmandu Metropolitan City from Monday, June 19, as the objectionable words in the dialogue of the film ‘Adipurush’ has not yet been removed,” Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah said in his Facebook post.

Prabhas plays Raghav (Ram), Kriti Sanon plays Janaki (Sita), and Saif Ali Khan plays Lankesh (Raavan) in the film 'Adipurush', which premiered across India on Friday.
The film has received flak for its mediocre VFX, indecent dialogues, and the actors' disappointing performances.

The review of the film on ABP Live reads: In Hindi cinema, mythology-inspired films are all the rage because of the makers' thirst for ancient fables that can be tailored for the screen today. Om Raut, of 'Tanhaji' fame, took an interest in the genre and made an effort to present a fresh interpretation of the Ramayana. Just like a dish could be described in flowery language on the menu and then, to one's dismay, arrive at the table with only a meagre hint of flavour; the same goes for 'Adipurush'.
