New Delhi: Known for his in the Malayalam cinema, actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran has tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday. The ‘Indian Rupee’ actor has been shooting for his upcoming movie ‘Jana Mana Gana’ with Dijo Jose Anthony since October 7.

Taking to his Twitter, Prithviraj Sukumaran wrote, “Hello everyone! I’ve been shooting for Dijo Jose Anthony’s “Jana Gana Mana” since the 7th of October. We had strict protocols in place with regards to Covid regulations and associated safety measures. As is the norm, all involved in the shoot were tested before the schedule started and after the last day of shoot in the courtroom set we had put up, tests were repeated. Unfortunately, the test results this time came back positive and I have gone into isolation. I’m asymptomatic and am doing fine now. All primary and secondary contacts have been advised to isolate and get tested. Hoping to recover soon and get back to work ASAP. Cheers and thanks for the love and concern.”



According to an IANS report, the director of the movie Dijo Jose Anthony has also tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Post this, all the film crew members who have come in contact with the actor and director of ‘Jana Gana Mana’ have to go into self-isolation.

Prithviraj made his acting debut with the 2002 romantic drama ‘Nandanam’ which proved to be a commercial success which paved the path for the ‘Manjadikuru’ actor to establish himself as a successful leading actor in the coming years. He went on to become ‘Superstar’ after the success of ‘Puthiya Mukham’ in 2009.

Sukumaran made his directorial debut with the 2019 film ‘Lucifer’ which went on to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever.
