Bengali actor Joy Mukherjee was granted bail on Saturday, shortly after he was produced before the court for allegedly assaulting an actress.
On Friday night, the Tollywood actor allegedly intercepted the actress' car near Lake Gardens area in Kolkata, dragged her out of the vehicle and assaulted her. Police also confirmed that Joy tried to vandalise the car.


He was arrested on Friday itself and was produced before a court in Kolkata's Alipore area, where he received bail against a personal bail bond of Rs 500. The alleged victim is rumoured to be Joy's former girlfriend.

Joy has been charged under Indian Penal Code sections 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), 409 (Criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent), 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
