Abhishek Bachchan Reveals Aishwarya Rai Was Paid Higher Fees Than Him In 8 Films

Abhishek Bachchan recently revealed that he got paid lesser than Aishwarya Rai. He said that for 8 of the 9 films that they worked together in, Aishwarya was paid more than him.

Mumbai: Often, there are debates on the lack of pay parity in the Hindi film industry. Several actresses have spoken about being paid less than their male counterparts. However, Abhishek Bachchan has discussed this openly now. Abhishek and Aishwarya have worked in 9 films together. You will be surprised to know that in 8 of these, Aishwarya commanded a higher fee.

During an event in 2018, Abhishek revealed that both his mother (Jaya Bachchan) and his wife (Aishwarya) have always worked on their own terms. They never did anything that they didn't want to do.

Here's what Abhishek said about pay disparity in the industry. For 8 of the 9 films that they worked together in, Aishwarya was paid more than him. Deepika Padukone, too, commanded the highest fee in the film Piku.

Abhishek said that the film industry is a business and people are paid according to their capabilities. If you are a new actress, you can't ask for a fee equal to what Shahrukh Khan charges.
