Mumbai: Aamir Khan starrer 'Lagaan' completes 20 years today. The film, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, was nominated for the Oscars Award in the foreign language film category from India. Aamir Khan himself was the producer of the film. ‘Lagaan’ not only won the hearts of the audience but also impressed the critics. This movie is considered one of the most iconic movies of all times.
Today, as we celebrate 20 years of ‘Lagaan’, here is an interesting fact about the shooting of the climax scene. The match between the villagers and the British was the climax of the film and to shoot this film, the makers required a crowd that seemed extraordinary. To show the crowd in the climax scene, the makers involved 10,000 people from nearby towns and villages and had them shoot the crowd scenes.

The hard work required behind shooting a film is unbelievably enjoyable and exhausting at the same time. In such a situation, the makers of ‘Lagaan’ pulled off the task of dressing and feeding 10,000 people. It was a big challenge, but the team somehow managed to accomplish this.
To cheer up the audience, Aamir Khan sang ‘Aati Kya Khandala’ and Ashutosh Gowariker captured the crowd’s reactions. The captures shots were used in the climax where the villagers cheer for the rural cricketers in the film.
Also, there were strict rules on the sets of the film. Everything was done on time. The entire cast was accommodated in a residential complex for the shooting of the film.
Aamir Khan’s ‘Lagaan’ and Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ released on the same day. This was considered one of the biggest clashes of that year. Both the movies released on June 15, 2001, and were commercially successful.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan will next be seen featuring in a lead role in the upcoming movie ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan.
