Excel Entertainment, which has produced the web series, issued an apology to veteran author Surendar Mohan Pathak, who expressed his displeasure over one of the scenes in 'Mirzapur' and accused the makers of misrepresenting his book 'Dhabba'. For the uninitiated, Kulbhushan Kharbanda's character Satyanand Tripathi read the book in one of the scenes in the series. A voice over, which played in the background stirred controversy as the writer alleged that it had nothing to do with his book.

The production house has acknowledged that the depiction of 'Dhabba' in Mirzapur 2 and an 'unrelated' voiceover hurt the sentiments of Surender Mohan Pathak and his well-wishers.
