New Delhi: This week's box office competition features three films: Sonakshi Sinha-Huma Qureshi's 'Double XL', Janhvi Kapoor's 'Mili', and Katrina Kaif's 'Phone Bhoot'. The Box Office numbers show that 'Phone Bhoot' debuted with weak numbers, while 'Double XL' and 'Mili' performed worse.
'Mili' and 'Double XL' got occupancy of as low as 10 per cent. According to a report by PinkVilla, Mili opened to around Rs. 45 - 65 lakh, while Double XL collected Rs. 25 lakh only on day 1, having a rather dull start at the Box Office. Looking at the recent trends, only movies that provide something unique on the big screen are doing well in theatres.
As 'Mili' and 'Double XL' were unable to get off to a strong start on Friday, the weekend is now much more important for them. The unfavourable reviews from critics may, however, make it more difficult for them to draw audiences to the theatres, resulting in an impact on Box Office collections.
Janhvi Kapoor, on the other hand, was really enthusiastic about the release and said that it would be exciting to see which film the audience goes for while talking about BO clashes with 'Phone Bhoot' and 'Double XL'.
Janhvi told India TV, "It is exciting because after a long time audiences will have to choose among three films. For a long time, there were no movies being released in theatres. All three films are different from each other. Obviously, I hope the audience like my film the most. But objectively speaking, all the movies look exciting. wish them all the best."
As far as the storyline of the film is concerned, Janhvi Kapoor's 'Mili' is a survival thriller about a woman trapped inside a freezer fighting for her life while Sinha and Qureshi's 'Double XL' deals with the obsession with body weight and female body image issues.
