New Delhi: Marathi actor Ketaki Chitale, who was detained by the police for sharing a questionable post against NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, walked out of Thane Central jail with a smile, on Friday, June 24.

A day after the Thane Court granted her bail, Ketaki was seen wearing a peach-coloured embroidered kurta and a huge smile on her face as she walked towards her car. When asked about the controversy, she said that she will comment upon it when the time is right.

On May 15, 2022, Ketaki was detained by the police for posting a defamatory post against NCP Chief Sharad Pawar on her social media. She posted a poem on her Facebook account which was written by a lawyer, Nitin Bhave. While the police has not been able to trace Bhave yet, the actor’s gadgets are still with the police and are being checked to find if there is any evidence through which they can trace out Bhave’s location.

On Tuesday, Chitale’s bail plea went for hearing and the prosecution which was earlier objecting on it said they had no objection on her getting a bail.

On May 20th, Rabale Police Thane took her into custody for another case which was pending against her. Although Chitale got bail in the Rabale case on June 16th, she was still under police custody because of her ongoing case. On June 22nd, she was released on bail for the defamation case. She did not comment upon the case but said “I will speak when the time is right. Now, I want to first reach home. Inside the prison, I took up teaching the inmates who were pursuing their first year in Bachelor of Arts. I have realised that they need good teachers to guide them.”

The police are trying to find out Bhave’s location. A crime branch officer said, “Our case is still under investigation. We haven’t received any clue about Bhave. Chitale also didn’t know Bhave, but our cyber team is working on it and while we submit our charge sheet in the case, we will mention it.”
