New Delhi: Singer Lucky Ali found himself in a controversy after posting a note on Facebook that said the name "Brahman" ultimately derives from “Abram.” The post didn’t go down well with many social media users, and they disagreed with him. The singer has now deleted the post and has also issued an apology for the same.
Lucky Ali wrote in a new post, “Dear Everyone, I realise the controversy of my last post. My intentions were not to cause distress or anger amongst anyone and I deeply regret that. My intentions, instead, were to bring us all closer together… but I realise how it didn't come out in the way that I meant it. I will be more aware of what I am posting and of my phrasing as I see now that it has upset many of my Hindu brothers and sisters. For that I am deeply sorry. I Love you all.”
In his now-deleted post, Ali had written that “Brhmans are a lineage of Ibrahim.” His post read, “The name ‘Brahman’ comes from ‘Brahma’ which comes from ‘Abram’ .. which comes from Abraham or Ibrahim.. The Brahmans are a lineage of Ibrahim. Alaihisalam… The Father of all Nations … so whys everyone just arguing and fighting without reasoning amongst themselves?”
Lucky Ali is the son of the late Bollywood actor Mehmood. He belted out some of the biggest pop hits of the ‘90s and the early ‘2000s and is still very popular among music lovers. Ali, who first tried his hand at acting before moving on to becoming a singer-songwriter, made his debut way back in 1961 on “Chhote Nawab” which was directed by his father, the late comedian Mehmood.
He appeared in a handful of acting ventures, including “Kaante” and “Sur” in 2002, before deciding to stick to being a musician.
