New Delhi: 'Laal Singh Chaddha' has been staggering at the box office. However, the Aamir Khan starrer did register a 20% growth on Saturday and earned around Rs. 9-19 crores.  For a big budget and event film, this is not a good sign of improvement. According to Box Office India, 'Laal Singh Chaddha's box office collection stands at Rs. 27.50 crore nett after three days. Perhaps the film will rake in Rs. 50 crores in its first week.

The Advait Chandan directorial is performing well in Delhi NCR and East Punjab which is contributing to 40% of the all India business while the situation is quite different in Maharashtra and Gujarat, The Indian Express reported. According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, 'Laal Singh Chaddha's business has been affected by the 'boycott' calls that the film has been generating ever since its promotional activity started a couple of months ago.

Taran Adarsh tweeted, "STOP being in denial about #Boycott calls *not* affecting film biz... The fact is, these #Boycott calls *HAVE* made a dent and impacted the #BO numbers of #LaalSinghChaddha specifically... Face it!"

'Laal Singh Chaddha' has been written by Atul Kulkarni and adapted from the Oscar-winning Hollywood 'Forrest Gump'. The rights alone of the film took 8-9 years to be acquired. The film stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, Naga Chaitanya and Manav Vij.

'Raksha Bandhan' starring Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar also released on Rakhi, August 11, 2022. Both films have not performed very well at the box office. While Aamir Khan's film had kept many excited for its release after so long, 'Laal Singh Chaddha' is going through a down time at the box office.

‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ was bankrolled on a budget of Rs. 180 crores and from the looks of it, the film will not be able to recover its cost of production.
