New Delhi: One of the highest-rated K-dramas in tvN history, 'Queen of Tears' stars Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, and has broken multiple records. Not only has this romance comedy outperformed all expectations among the local audience, but also among audiences worldwide.
Queen of Tears becomes third-highest rated on tvN
With the start of its second half on April 7, the series pulled off an amazing comeback, shooting to its best ratings and blowing away every other show of the day. 'Reply 1988', with a cast that includes Park Bo Gum, Ryu Jun Yeol, and Hyeri, the 2015 K-drama was a crowd favourite. But now, a brand-new drama is leading the pack with the third-highest ratings of any tvN drama to date. Only two megahit dramas, 'Crash Landing on You' and 'Goblin', rank higher than 'Queen of Tears', which has surpassed 'Reply 1988'.
Rye Jun-yeol and Hyeri break up
Meanwhile, Rye Jun-yeol and Hyeri began dating in 2017 after starring together in the popular slice-of-life K-drama Reply 1988. They broke up in November of last year without giving any reasons.
As of late, the most-watched show of all time is the K-drama 'Queen of Tears'. The show centres on a married couple that experiences divorce and burnout before finding love again after overcoming challenges. After gaining 4.3 million views this week, 'Queen of Tears' has emerged as the most popular show in Netflix's non-English genre. It is expected that 'Queen of Tears' will wrap up its 16-episode run with a dramatic climax. On April 27 and 28, 2024, Queen of Tears' last episodes are slated to air, marking the conclusion of this fascinating series.
The most recent episode of 'Beauty' and 'Mr. romance', a new romance drama on KBS 2TV, witnessed a modest decline in viewership, with an average of 18.0% for the night nationwide.
