New Delhi: Netflix India is all set for the premiere of a new show titled 'Khakee: The Bihar Chapter' starring Karan Tacker as an ethical police officer in the state of Bihar. The crime drama has been directed by Bhav Dholia and produced by Neeraj Panday. The streaming giant unveiled the trailer of 'Khakee' on Friday.
The trailer spans the years 2000-2006 showing the nexus of crime and politics in Bihar. The trailer also teases a standoff between the police and common criminals. In the midst of all this is Karan Tacker as an idealist cop who wants to set the order of things right come what may. He promises everyone around him that he will set the local gangster, played by Avinash Tripathy, straight.
These regional crime dramas have become a genre in themselves, starting from 'Mirzapur', 'Meerutia Gangsters', 'Gangs of Wasseypur' ( being the flagbearer), 'Rangbaaz', 'Maharani', 'Jamtara' etc.
Neeraj Pandey is returning after some time to the screening space after his debut with the Disney+Hotstar series 'Special OPS'. Neeraj Pandey is known for giving hits like 'A Wednesday', 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' and 'Special 26'.
In a statement, Karan Tacker said, "This cop and crime thriller, set in the early 2000s, from the heartland of Bihar is a big story which we have been wanting to create and share for sometime and through the directorial lens of Bhav Dhulia and the production expertise of my partner Shital Bhatia, we have endeavoured to bring the flavour alive with the tonality and treatment. Shot in extreme trying circumstances at Jharkhand and Bihar across multiple Covid waves, it boasts of a talented ensemble depicting strong characters which we hope will resonate with the local and the global Netflix audiences.”
'Khakee: The Bihar Chapter' also features the likes of Ashutosh Rana, Jatin Sarna, Nikita Dutta, Ravi Kishan, Abhimanyu Singh, Anup Soni, Aishwarya Sushmita, Vinay Pathak and Shraddha Das. The show will premiere on Netflix on November 25.
